Overview of the RIVIAM Digital Immunisations Service

RIVIAM Digital Immunisations Service comprises several components to support customers delivering school-aged immunisation programmes. RIVIAM can support all School-aged immunisation programmes, including Flu, HPV, DTP, MenACWY and COVID-19.

Each immunisation programme follows the same process.

eConsent

Consent is required for School-age children and vulnerable adults to receive a vaccination.

RIVIAM provides customers with a URL to a digital eConsent designed by the immunisation provider in accordance with the immunisation programme.  The immunisation team will forward this URL to schools to distribute to parents, asking them to complete the eConsent.

Booking an appointment for a catch-up clinic

There is also an option where parents can book an appointment for their child to attend a catch-up clinic. RIVIAM can provide a bookable URL to the immunisation team to distribute to a cohort of parents, or alternatively, the immunisation team can also book children into clinics individually if required.

Triage of Consents

Most consents received will not require any form of triage. However, some situations require additional triage and review. These may vary by programme but would include:

  • Clinical issues
  • DoB issues
  • Conflicting consents
  • Parental Responsibility issues

These consents will require further investigation and triage by a clinician, resulting in a decision as to whether the child can or cannot be immunised.

RIVIAM Web provides a workflow for clinicians using a series of queues based on the key triage questions. Consents would be allocated to these queues based on their responses in the eConsent form. Clinicians can then work through these consents according to their clinical policies and update the child's immunisation status accordingly.

Setting up Clinics

Once triage has been completed, the immunisation team can generate a clinic.  This will formulate a list of the children you would expect to see at the school visit or the community clinic.

RIVIAM Web enables the user to set up mobile clinics and allocate clinicians.

Immunisation Clinics

Users can either generate a mobile clinic or download a clinic spreadsheet to record outcomes.

  • Clinicians can use a spreadsheet, which they download before each clinic, complete the immunisation outcomes, and upload it to the RIVIAM Web.
  • Clinicians can use the IOS or Windows RIVIAM app, which allows them to access the clinic data on a mobile device or laptop, review patient records, record immunisation outcomes and upload the data into RIVIAM Web.
  • Outcomes can be added directly to RIVIAM Web using the update vaccination status tool.

Reporting Outcomes

Following the clinics, the outcomes would be uploaded to clinical databases such as SystmOne, CHIS & NIVS.

RIVIAM has an integration that can add outcome data directly into a patient record in SystmOne as soon as it can be recorded in RIVIAM.

Self-service reporting

Teams can also download a selection of reports containing outcome data in upload formats required by CHIS and NIVS.

Other data is also available, such as Ethnicity reports, Refusals reports, Consents received reports and Outstanding vaccinations reports.
